Sara Bareilles reveals she's been trying to have kids for two years
The actress and singer makes this revelation in her new documentary Good Grief

Sara Bareilles opened up about her personal struggles with fertility in her new documentary.
Good Grief, which premiered at Tribeca Film Festival on Thursday, June 4, chronicles the making of the actress and singer's first album in seven years in 2025 as she confronts various types of loss she's suffered.
In the documentary, Bareilles, 46, can be seen catching up with her collaborators in the studio, when she shares that she and husband Joe Tippett have been trying to have kids.
"I'm in the same boat," she says to her collaborator, who has also been struggling with fertility issues. "We've been trying for two years."
Bareilles then becomes emotional and reveals she's tried IVF "a few times."
"But I think the next phase is egg donor," the "Love Song" hitmaker says, becoming emotional. "For some reason, I'm not making the appointment. I really had to grieve that...that it won't be mine."
Bareilles then says she's been doing a lot of "meditating around the size of love."

"The idea that love is just big enough to hold a lot of shapes and sizes and ways things come. The idea that I could only love a child if it shows up in this one way," she adds.
Bareilles announced on Instagram in October 2025 that she and Tippett, 44, had tied the knot.
"We did a big thing," she captioned the post, which featured a series of photos from the wedding. "I will just say I love this man and I love the community who came to hold us up. I am feeling so lucky and so grateful. ❤️ ."
The couple first met in 2015 while working together on the musical Waitress, and two years later, they went public with their romance.

Bareilles announced her engagement to Tippett on New Year's Day in 2023.
On Wednesday, June 3, the "Brave" artist announced her new album Good Grief, which is set to be released on Aug. 28.
"This whole collection of songs felt like transmissions rather than a deliberate attempt to make sense of the world," Bareilles said in a press release statement. "My deepest hope is that Good Grief provides some kind of comfort or catharsis."
