Matthew Stafford has clinched the title of the NFL’s Most Valuable Player!
The Los Angeles Rams quarterback, 37, was announced as the winner at the NFL Honors on Thursday, Feb. 5, where he gave a heartfelt speech to his four children, who joined him onstage, and his wife, Kelly Stafford.
“Kelly, you’re unbelievable, what you do for our family,” the athlete said in his speech, according to a clip shared by the NFL. “The way you support me, the way you support these kids — shoot, they got guys in the audience tonight [who] know how she supports everybody that’s involved in my life, and she’s my rock.”
“I want to let you know the sacrifices. I see you. I love you, and I appreciate you very much,” he added.
The NFL player then turned his attention to his four daughters who joined him onstage wearing matching dresses with a white long-sleeved patterned top which flared out into a black skirt. They wore white shoes to complete the look.

“To my four beautiful daughters who I’m lucky enough to be sharing the stage with, give it up for them, huh?,” Matthew said. “Chandler, Sawyer, Hunter, Tyler, I’m so happy to be able to teach the blessings and the lessons of this game to you guys, through you guys.”
“You’re unbelievable cheerleaders for me, I appreciate it,” he continued. “I am so happy to have you at the games on the sideline with me, and I can't wait for you to cheer me on next year when we're out there kicking ass.”

Matthew narrowly edged out New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye to secure the win for NFL Most Valuable Player in the closest vote since 2003, according to ESPN.
The Rams quarterback reportedly received 24 of 50 first-place votes and finished with 366 points, while Maye had got 23 first-place votes and finished with 361 points. The last time the votes were this close was when Peyton Manning and Steve McNair were announced co-winners in 2003, per ESPN.
With his win, Matthew also became one of the oldest players in NFL history to win his first MVP right behind Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers, who each won their respective awards in 2017 and 2021, according to the outlet.

In his latest NFL season, Stafford led with 4,707 passing yards, 46 passing touchdowns — a career high — and just eight interceptions. While his team, the Rams, weren’t able to clinch a Super Bowl spot this year after losing to the Seattle Seahawks in the playoffs, he promised to return again next season to do it all again.
"I'll see you guys next year," said Stafford, per ESPN. "Hopefully, I'm not at this event and we're getting ready for another game at SoFi."
The Seahawks will take on the Patriots in Super Bowl LX on Sunday, Feb. 8.
