Two head writers who will replace Josh Griffith on The Young and the Restless have been announced. Both writers have been honored with Writers Guild of America and Daytime Emmy Awards. Griffith announced his decision to step down from the role in June, after which the search for his successors began.

The Young and the Restless announced Jamey Giddens and Dan O’Connor as the replacements for Griffith, carrying forward the storyline (via TV Insider). Griffith didn’t disclose any reason for his departure earlier. Moreover, a date for his exit is yet to be announced. Earlier, alongside his duties as a writer, he was also the executive producer of the show. But he chose to exit the EP role in May and handed it over to  Sally McDonald. At the time, he cited that he wanted to focus on writing; thus, he left his EP position.

Currently, Giddens is the writer for Beyond The Gates. Before joining his current role, he had been associated with several popular shows that include The Rich & The Ruthless, Sistas, and Ambitions. According to IMDb, he is also the associate head writer of Days of Our Lives and was also involved in its spin-off, Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem.

Born in Connecticut, O’Connor started his television career by being associated with a local TV station and later pursuing a major in the field from  New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, as per his IMDb page. During the early stages of his career while he was studying, he honed his skills, interning at ABC’s One Life to Live and Late Night with Conan O’Brien. After graduation, he then switched to a full-time writing role at One Life to Live. His career then expanded to big soaps like Days of Our Lives and General Hospital.
