Kim Kardashian briefly opened up to Complex about her relationship with ex-husband Kanye West
In the recent conversation, she stated how they'll "always be family"
She added that they "want what’s best" for their kids: North, 12, Saint, 10, Chicago, 8, and Psalm, 6
Kim Kardashian is sharing insight into the status of her relationship with ex-husband Kanye West.
Kardashian, 45, spoke with Complex on Thursday, Feb. 5, and shared how her and West’s relationship has evolved since their divorce.
The couple first met in 2012, tied the knot in 2014 and Kardashian filed for divorce in 2021. Their divorce was finalized in 2022. During their marriage, they welcomed four children: North, 12, Saint,10, Chicago, 8, and Psalm, 6.
“We’ll always be family,” she told the outlet after she was asked about promoting West’s Yeezy boots in a January TikTok.
“We both know that,” she added. “We will be okay, and there's so much love for our family. We want what’s best for our kids.”

As for the Yeezy boots, Kardashian explained, “I couldn’t deny the Yeezy heel, so I had to shout it out."
In the TikTok, she shows viewers how she styled an outfit during an Aspen trip. As she walked through the pieces, she explained she paired the look with Yeezy boots, saying, "I will say, there’s nothing like a Yeezy heel. I don’t know if they ever made these or just made them for me. I love when a shoe is tonal to the pant.”
The recent remarks about their family dynamic come after Kardashian’s candid comments about her struggles with the rapper.
"I was pretty tested, I will say. Very tested," said Kardashian on an October 2025 episode of Hulu's The Kardashians. "I mean, I have psoriasis again. I felt it. I mean, I felt more stressed, probably just because I had to super, super protect what I had to protect. My kids are involved now."

"Everyone around can handle it, but like…protect my babies,” she said. "They’re gonna know things. They’re gonna grow up. They’re gonna see.”
"So my job as a mom is to just make sure that at a time when that behavior is happening, is just to make sure that they are protected."

In January, West apologized for his erratic behavior and deeply antisemitic rants in open letter titled "To Those I've Hurt" — a full-page advertisement (paid for by his Yeezy brand) — in The Wall Street Journal. In his apology, West claimed bipolar disorder caused his erratic behavior and turn to antisemitism.
Kardashian has shared how West's behavior has been stressful for her, and in a September episode of The Kardashians, she revealed she was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm, and doctors said "stress" may have been the cause.
After revealing the aneurysm, the episode cut to a tearful Kardashian discussing her divorce from West. “I’m happy it’s over,” she said. “My ex will be in my life no matter what. We have four kids together.”
In a November episode of The Kardashians, Kardashian revealed that despite his claims of calling their children, he "never once called."
"I mean, I always encourage a relationship, but a healthy one," she said, adding that it's "frustrating that my character as a mom" comes into question because of his erratic behavior. "Sometimes I just feel like snapping, but I can’t. I just can’t.”
In a confessional, Kim added, "My only focus and job is really just to be strong for my kids."
