British PM Sir Keir Starmer is deeply concerned about Kanye West set to headline the Wireless Festival. The American rapper has an unfavorable public image. He has been embroiled in major controversies, including his infamous antisemitic remarks. Starmer has reportedly expressed his displeasure to the media regarding West headlining the North London event in July.

Sir Keir Starmer talks about Kanye West headlining Wireless festival

Sir Keir Starmer revealed it is “deeply concerning” that Kanye West is headlining the Wireless Festival. The British PM expressed his disappointment to The Sun in a brief statement.

Sir Starmer stated, “It is deeply concerning Kanye West has been booked to perform at Wireless despite his previous antisemitic remarks and celebration of Nazism. Antisemitism in any form is abhorrent and must be confronted firmly wherever it appears. Everyone has a responsibility to ensure Britain is a place where Jewish people feel safe.”

The Wireless Festival will take place from July 10 (Friday) to July 12 (Sunday) at Finsbury Park in North London. This comes a few weeks after the rapper released his 12th studio album, Bully.

West will be headlining all three nights and will be performing for 150,000 people in total. Those who cannot attend the concert in person can watch it from the comfort of their homes on the Amazon streaming platform. It marks West’s first concert in the UK since he headlined Glastonbury in 2015. The organizers expressed that West’s comeback will be an “extraordinary chapter in Wireless’s story.”

The 48-year-old rapper released the song “Heil Hitler” last year, glorifying the Nazi leader. West had previously apologized to the Jewish community by publishing a full-page advert in The Wall Street Journal earlier this year.

The “Runaway” rapper revealed he loves Jews and blamed his bipolar disorder for his “poor judgment and reckless behaviour.”

However, it appears the UK authorities are not buying that. As per The Sun, there are growing calls by the Jewish community in the country to ban the American rapper from the UK. The festival organizers have not commented on the controversy at the time of writing this article.
