Ethan Hawke's teen daughters made a rare public appearance to support their dad.
The actor, 55, stepped out to the Arlington Theatre to accept the Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF)’s American Riviera Award on Friday, Feb. 6, with his wife, Ryan Shawhughes Hawke, and their two teenage daughters by his side.
The Reality Bites star and his wife of nearly 18 years posed on the red carpet with daughters Indiana, 14, and Clementine Jane, 17, at the SBIFF event at the Arlington Theatre in Santa Barbara, Calif. It was a rare cameo for the teens, who do not often attend public events.
The foursome hit the red carpet together, with Ethan and Ryan sandwiching the teens, who wore dresses for the occasion. Ryan, meanwhile, wore a geometric, metallic dress and leather jacket, while the honoree rocked a black suit with unique, studded details on the lapel.

The American Riviera Award was “established to recognize actors who have made a significant contribution to American Cinema,” according to the Arlington Theatre, where the event was held.
While accepting the award on Feb. 6, the father of four said he felt “blessed to be” at the event, before shouting out plus-ones Indiana, Clementine and Ryan.
“And my family's here,” the Blue Moon actor continued. “My daughters are here, and my wife who's my producing partner is here, and these people take care of me, and they love me, and they make it worth doing.”
The honor is awarded annually, with previous recipients including Kristen Stewart, Mark Ruffalo, Brendan Fraser, Sam Rockwell, Rachel McAdams, Quentin Tarantino, Forest Whitaker, Philip Seymour Hoffman and more. Last year’s honoree was Zoe Saldaña, who also attended with her kids.

Jeff Bridges, also a past recipient, honored Ethan with the 2026 award. It actually marked the actor’s second time receiving the honor, as the SBIFF jointly awarded him and Boyhood costar Patricia Arquette with the American Riviera Award in 2015.

In addition to Indiana and Clementine, Ethan shares two kids — daughter Maya Hawke, 27, and son Levon Roan Thurman-Hawke, 24 — with ex-wife Uma Thurman. In a recent interview, the actor revealed that his own star has been eclipsed by his Stranger Things star daughter Maya — at least to his youngest two kids.
Back in January, the father of four joked on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert that Maya “upstaged” him while he was filming his show The Lowdown — which his wife produces — on location in Tulsa.

His daughters, who attended public school in the Oklahoma city while he filmed the series, “came to visit me on set,” the actor said, “and the director, Sterlin Harjo, says, ‘So, is it hard having a famous dad when you’re at a new school?’ "
Ethan continued: “And they were like, ‘It’s hard having a famous sister. Nobody cares about my dad. … My sister’s picture is in the lockers everywhere.’ ”
