More troubling news has emerged in the case of Nancy Guthrie, the missing mother of *Today* anchor Savannah Guthrie.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told reporters Thursday that blood found on the porch of Nancy's home in Tucson, Ariz., has been confirmed to belong to her. He had previously said that the scene authorities found was "very concerning."**
"The only DNA evidence we got back is on the porch," Nanos said in a press conference. "We saw the importance of that blood. It came back to Nancy."

Authorities and the Guthrie family have been searching for Nancy, 84, since Sunday, when her family members couldn't locate her. Her kids had left her at her home outside the previous evening.
During the news conference Thursday, authorities clarified that Nancy had arrived home at 9:48 p.m. and closed her garage door two minutes later. At 1:47 a.m., her doorbell camera was disconnected, and her pacemaker stopped communicating with her phone about 45 minutes after that.

Nanos had previously told reporters that he believed Nancy was abducted, not only because of the evidence at the scene but also because Nancy has limited mobility, although she's mentally "sharp as a tack."
A public information officer for the sheriff's department told ** on Monday, "Sheriff Nanos has stated that he believes a crime has been committed. At this point, investigators believe she was taken from the home against her will, possibly in the middle of the night. Taken against her will includes possible kidnapping or abduction."**
On Wednesday, Savannah and her siblings, Annie and Cameron, made a public plea for their mother's safe return, speaking directly to anyone involved in her disappearance.

"Our mom is our heart and our home," Savannah said in a video shared on social media. "She's 84 years old. Her health, her heart is fragile. She lives in constant pain. She is without any medicine. She needs it to survive. She needs it not to suffer."
She said that they'd also heard reports about a possible ransom letter.
"We are ready to talk," the journalist said. "However, we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated. We need to know, without a doubt, that she is alive and that you have her. We want to hear from you, and we are ready to listen. Please, reach out to us."
The FBI has joined the case and is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to Nancy's recovery.
Nanos said Thursday that he remains hopeful. "We believe Nancy is still out there," he said. "We want her home."**
