18th-hole protest disrupts DP World Tour's KLM Open as Eugenio Chacarra holds on to win
Eugenio Chacarra won the DP World Tour's KLM Open on Sunday, a victory that will move him inside the top 100 of the Official World Golf Ranking and get the former LIV player closer to earning his PGA Tour card.
However, the scene that unfolded as he and Oliver Lindell walked up the 18th green at The International in Amsterdam, Netherlands, was something rarely seen in golf.
Protestors stormed the pond in front of the 18th green, setting off flares and pyrotechnics while shouting chants as the leaders hit their approach shot. Lindell, in search of his first DP World Tour win, hit his approach in the midst of the chaos.

The reason for the protest, nor the group behind it, was not immediately clear.
As the players approached the 18th green, dozens of DP World Tour staff lined the green to avoid anyone running onto the putting surface as the leaders completed their day. In the end, Chacarra birdied the closing hole for a one-shot win over Lindell, his second DP World Tour victory.
Two years ago at the same event, protestors from the group Extinction Rebellion delayed tee times two hours due to a protest. The same year at the Travelers Championship, Scottie Scheffler's victory was disrupted due to protestors being dragged from the green.
